HP is recalling some 15,700 batteries that could overheat, melt, and pose a burn or fire hazard. The batteries were sold with HP Pavilion DV1 and ZE2 series, Compaq NX48 series, and Compaq Presario V2 and M2 series notebook computers. The batteries were manufactured in early January 2005 and were sold between January 2005 and December 2005. The bad batteries have a bar code that starts with L3. Anyone with the bad battery should immediately stop using it and contact HP at 888-202-4320 between 7 am and 7 pm Central Time, Monday through Friday, or visit www.hp.com/support/batteryreplacement for more information.
