IM Security – Encrypt Your Instant Messages

Did you know that every single IM you send could be read by a stranger? Anyone with even a little bit of computer know how can listen in on your conversations because everything that you type is being sent over the internet in PLAIN TEXT! So if your someone who likes their privacy/security and your just a wee bit paranoid then then this ones for you.

1. You’ll need to download and install Gaim (v1.5)
2. Now download and install the Gaim Encryption Plugin here… (v2.38)
3. If you had Gaim open during the installation restart it.
4. Now go to Tools > Preferences > Plugins
5. Check Gaim-Encryption
6. Now click on the Encryption Plugin on the left side.
7. Set your options and close the preferences window.
8. Remember that the person your talking to on the other side needs Gaim and the Gaim Encryption Plugin installed.
9. Now when your talking to your buddy you can click on the Red Lock on the bottom of your chat window.
10. You’ll swap encryption keys and when your secure both Locks will turn Red.
11. Now you can tell all kinds of secrets over the interwebs ^_^
